ePilotBook is a web application for marine pilots, but also for pilot boats, helping boatages and captaincies.
ePilotBook displays up-to-date and real-time information about the environment in which these professionals evolve.
ePilotBook can be used from a smartphone, a tablet or a PC, and especially from an iPhone or IPad.

How it works
ePilotBook is a web application mainly designed for marine pilots. It allows the pilot to have at any time the most up-to-date environmental information as well as real-time data such as AIS, the winds, the water levels, and even the position of landed vehicles.
In particular, ePilotBook is a communication tool with the captain to explain the manoeuvre, follow it and then debrief, by visualising in particular the “sea passages plans”, the position in relation to a theoretical sea route or using the replay tool.
Operated from a smartphone or an iPad Mini, ePilotBook is not a nuisance to the pilot, while remaining available at any time.
Data centralization
ePilotBook is a modern and efficient evolution of Pilot’s note books allowing :
-
ENC / Port ENC display, layer organization, queryable objects
-
bENC display, ability for each Pilot to select an accurate safety contour value
-
Ability to simply measure distance and bearing between any selected points among accurate data
-
Real time and source approved AIS & anemometer display, suitable portrayal (pilot boat, tug, …)
-
Backup GPS positioning
-
Optimized use of cache in case of interrupted network communication
-
Ability to follow an AIS track
-
Estimated Distance and Time arrival at specific waypoint for any target
Real time data
-
AIS
-
Anometers
-
Tide gauges
-
Geolocalized vehicles
Functionalities
The ePilotBook interface provides access to many of the most common features available in a single click. ePilotBook allows to:
-
Display or not each predefined information layer
-
Select its safety isobath, allowing to immediately distinguish safe waters from unsafe waters for a given water level
-
Select a mobile (click on the mobile or from the list of mobiles seen by the connected AIS) and visualise its trace
-
Query a wind gauge
-
Define and visualise a guard area around a mobile
-
Calculate an ETA, a direction and a distance
-
Draw a path
-
Replay the history of the last hours (replay function)
-
Archive a history to replay it later (controlled access)
Benefits
-
Modularity: ePilotBook is organized in modules in order to offer a dedicated environment for each pilotage service and each user group (marine pilot, pilot boats, other user).
-
Confidentiality: Each user owns a login and password to ensure the confidentiality of the data. Archiving for replay purposes is also controlled.
-
Deployment: Geomod offers several solutions to implement ePilotBook. It can be a rental or a perpetual licence.
-
Hosting: Geomod can also ensure ePilotBook hosting on a dedicated server, an adapted solution to the pilotage services without a suitable IT service.
