ULHYSSES is a simple and precise tool which allows creating automatic bathymetric charts from multi-beam survey. ULHYSSES is aimed at pilotage services teams as well as harbour and river hydrographic services. Furthermore, incorporated onboard a hydrographic boat, an oceanographic boat or a submarine, it enables the production of standardized bathymetric charts in almost real-time.
What makes ULHYSSES unique
How it works
ULHYSSES is a simple and efficient tool that produces automatically bathymetric charts in S57 format (ENC/bENC/CLB) from single or multi-beam surveys stored in any projection. For example, harbour Pilots can easily produce their own bathymetric charts that can be immediately used by their Portable Pilot Units (PPU) or by ePilotBook, the Pilot’s note book also provided by Geomod.
From ASCII files (XYZ, CSV, etc.) containing regular or irregular point datasets defined in any projection, with a few parameters such as the list of the isobath values, ULHYSSES generates within a few seconds or minutes S57 bathymetric charts containing depth contours, depth areas, unsurveyed areas and sounding networks. The delineation is also automatically optimised.
Bathymetric ENC can be used in navigation applications as well as harbor monitoring or maintenance applications to cover navigable waters that are subject to frequent changes in bottom topography.
Functionalities
- Input: one or more ASCII files (in any projection or geographical coordinates).
- Output: one or more perfectly adjacent bathymetric charts (ENC/bENC/CLB) in S57 format.
- Output content: depth areas, unsurveyed areas, depth contours and sounding networks safely extracted in accordance with specified scale ranges.
- Automatic delineation, without any overlapping with the land areas defined in an existing ENC, when specified as input.
- Ability to merge the bathymetric chart into an accurate Port ENC for PPU usage.
Benefits
- The bathymetric ENC provide to seamen a much more accurate information than the usual ENC. Thanks to high density surveys, isobaths can be created at small depth intervals (1 meter or even less for example).
- A vector bathymetric ENC can be perfectly integrated in navigation software like ECDIS or ECS (display configuration, queries).
- Based on Karmor SDK and TeraSurf SDK Geomod software, ULHYSSES warrants high quality results, due to an extensive usage.
- ULHYSSES is available on Linux and Windows platforms in 32 and 64 bits versions.
