The expertise of the MithraREM team is not limited to mobile telephony. Through the CIRE RF project, carried out alongside Inserm and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, GEOMOD has modelled one of the most emblematic sites in French broadcasting: the Allouis transmitter in the Cher department.

Brought back into service in 1952, this site used to broadcast France Inter on long wave (162 kHz), with record power reaching 2,000 kW in the 1980s, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 8,000 people! Although radio broadcasting ceased in 2017, the transmitter remains operational to transmit French legal time.

Thanks to MithraREM, which has been adapted to simulate long waves (150 - 300 kHz) in accordance with ITU-R recommendation P.368-10, we were able to estimate the exposure of children between 2002 and 2013, as part of a study linked to the occurrence of paediatric cancers (GEOCAP database).

➡️ This emblematic example perfectly illustrates the diversity of MithraREM's applications, beyond the field of mobile telephony.
